“ I stayed at the AC Hotel Algeciras on business because it was the closest to the port and it didn’t disappoint. The reception arrange a taxi for the very short ride into the main commercial port entrance which isn’t in the town centre but up to the north of the city. And when I got back it was slickly operated and everything was at hand – a nice meal at the good restaurant and a well-earned drink at the bar. The only downside was that it was slightly too far to walk into the town centre unless you fancied a 30 minute stroll, but a taxi only took a few minutes so wasn’t exactly a big problem. ”
Amazingly Affordable
Kelvin, San Diego – June 2011
“ Basically a good 4-star business hotel with everything you need – no frills but no downsides either. However I was amazed at the low price, pretty much half of what I usually pay for similar places. The room was good and had a great view of Gibraltar – I sat on my balcony with a G&T staring across the bay to Gibraltar every evening! The AC Hotel Algeciras doesnt have a swimming pool but I made good use of the gym which had plenty of new equipment. ”
Good Hotel but Boring Location
Marsha47, Dover – September 2010
“ The AC Hotel Algeciras is a nice hotel but the area it’s in is very boring – the neighbourhood has nothing of interest so you have to take a taxi into the city. The city is nothing special either and you can see everything in a day. The beach a couple of km north of the hotel is pretty good though with lots of Spanish people instead of the usual tourists so was quite enjoyable and had a nice view of the rock of Gibraltar too. ”

Local Visitor Attractions
Algeciras
Although primarily a port city, Algeciras has a number of points of interest that are worth a visit from the AC Hotel Algeciras. It has not one but two good town beaches: El Rinconcilla beach is to the north of the city just 2 ½ km
from AC Hotel Algeciras and has over two miles of golden sands, beach cafes, water sports, lifeguards, sun lounger hire and spectacular views of Gibraltar. On the southern edges of the city is Getares beach which is Blue Flag quality and has a lovely coastal promenade. In the centre of town make sure you visit the Town Market where you can buy many local food products, and also nearby the delightful Plaza Alta square which has a public fountain decorated with traditional Spanish tiles and is great place to spend some time and look around the shops. Slightly to the south of the town centre is Acacias Park which is renown for its atmospheric colonial buildings and gardens. If you’re visiting the AC Hotel Algeciras in summer you may be able to see a bullfight in the Las Palomas ring located in the north-west of the city near the motorway.
Gibraltar
The British enclave of Gibraltar is about 40 minutes drive from the AC Hotel Algeciras and if definitely worth a visit for its historical significance and sights. The most popular excursion is to visit the Rock of Gibraltar, its caves and the colony of Barbary Macaques, the only wild apes left in Europe. If driving it’s more convenient to park in La Linea and walk across the border, and make sure you bring your passport or European identity card.
Tarifa
This laid-back community south-west of the city is approximately 30 minutes drive from the AC Hotel Algeciras and is renowned as a centre for windsurfing in Europe. The huge beaches are a big draw for tourists and the town itself has a few other attractions such as the Guzman Castle and the interesting Municipal Museum. However most people go to Tarifa for the endless beaches and fabulous watersports and it’s certainly an excellent and worthwhile excursion from the AC Hotel Algeciras.
