Guest Reviews
“ I stayed at the Hotel Nagoya Marriott for 4 nights on business and this hotel is definitely worth the 5 star rating, though it’s pretty expensive. The best things are:
1) the rooms which are very spacious by Japanese standards and have fantastic views of the city
2) being located above the main train station and subway as it makes getting round so much easier
3) food! In addition to the 10 restaurants in the hotel there’s 2 entire floors of places on the 13th and 14th floors in the same building, plus lots of other eateries in the other Tower
4) general efficiency – nothing went wrong, everything operated very smoothly, just how I like it! ”

“ Most 4 and 5 star hotels are exactly the same – boring! – but this one has something special. Besides the usual marble and chandeliers, because you are high up in the JR Towers there are amazing views not just from your room but also the restaurants and bars, even the swimming pool! From my room I could see the Nagoya Castle. It’s also very easy to get to on the train from Tokyo (btw always take the train – never drive!). One tip: if you come here in summer be careful because it is very hot so bring light suit for business, and don’t try to walk very far outside in your business suit. ”

OVERALL: best hotel in Nagoya, but would only stay again if I don’t have to pay!

Local Visitor Attractions
Nagoya
The booming port city of Nagoya has a population exceeding 2,000,000 inhabitants and is located on the Pacific coast of Honshu between Tokyo and Kyoto. It is an economic powerhouse and the home of numerous well-known corporations including Toyota, Yamaha, Brother, Honda, Mitsubishi Motors, Noritake, Makita, NGK, Suzuki, Olympus and many more. The Nagoya Hotel Marriott is located in the heart of the city at the centre of its transport hub.
There is more to Nagoya than business however, including a surprisingly vibrant night-life infused by an influx of migrants of Japanese heritage from Brazil. The main leisure district of Sakae has many lively bars and nightclubs serving affordable beverages and is completely safe to stroll around at night. Best of all, it’s only 1 mile east from the Nagoya Hotel Marriott.
Nagoya also has an excellent selection of historic venues to visit, the most famous of which is Nagoya Castle. It was meticulously rebuilt after being destroyed during World War II and now houses an interesting museum and gardens. There are several ancient religious sites open to visitors including the Atsuta and Shiroyama Hakusan shrines, and the Nittaiji, Osu Kannon, Arako Kannon, Koshoji and Toganji. Worthwhile museums include Tokugawa Art Museum, Fine Arts Museum, City Art Museum, Aichi Museum of Art, Science Museum and Toyota Automobile Museum. Other attractions include Higashiyama Park which houses a zoo and roller coasters, the iconic Nagoya TV Tower, the Aquarium at the port, Shirakawa & Hisaya-Odori parks. All the main tourist attractions are easily accessible for the city-centre Nagoya Hotel Marriott Associa.
Nagoya also hosts a number of festivals each year which include:
early June – Shoubusai Festival – the biggest event at the Atsuta Shrine
mid-July – Sumo Tournament – a traditional, annual event
mid-July – Port Festival – ends with a spectacular fireworks display
end-July – Osu Summer Festival – street festival featuring a Brazilian parade and live performances
early August – Nagoya Castle Summer Night Festival – traditional festival with lanterns, circle dancing, food stalls and beer garden
early August – World Cosplay Summit (WCS) – the most bizarre fancy-dress event in the world where people dress up as anime characters
The Nagoya Hotel Marriott is an ideal base for attending any of these festivals.
